Spring Hill: Derelict property at 30 Spring Street

30 Spring Street in Spring Hill is currently derelict and boarded up and now presents something of an eyesore for the surrounding residents.

Cllr Diane Fielding said, "The house looks dreadful and it's not fair on the neighbours. I have asked the Enforcement team to investigate and ask the owners to tidy it up."

Spring Hill: Flytipping problems along Spring Street

There have been several instances of flytipping along the back of Spring Street in Spring Hill and Cllr Diane Fielding has been investigating.

Diane said, "It's a recurring problem and it's the Council that picks up the bill. That's taxpayer's money, our money that could be spent on other things. Residents need to ask to see a Waste Carrier's Licence when firms comes to clear waste as it is the residents themselves who are liable. HBC offer a free bulky goods collection so I would urge people to get in touch with us first and let us know of any offenders."

Spring Hill: Councillor answers nuisance neighbour calls

Spring Hill Councillor Diane Fielding has been dealing with several cases involving nuisance neighbours recently and is looking for resolutions on several issues.

Cllr Fielding said, "I met with a resident living on Fife Street that had a complaint that children were playing in front of her residence on private land. I approached Hyndburn Homes who are to put a sign on the land stating 'Private Property'."

Diane added, "An alleged nuisance neighbour on Ferngore Estate has also been reported so I took the details to Hyndburn Homes. The situation is now in hand through meetings with the tenant and representatives of Hyndburn Homes."

She further went on, "We have a situation on Sharples Street regarding concerns about a property reportedly housing several young Romanian youths. Residents are making a record of the noise nuisance, the police are involved and I will be returning this week."

The police have also issues several drugs warrants in the area which have led to arrests and prosecutions.

Spring Hill: Labour Councillor discusses Al Hamza issues

Spring Hill Councillor Diane Fielding has been out and about dealing with issues around her ward and has held discussions with residents at Moorhouse Community Centre.

Diane said, "Since becoming a Councillor I have met with residents at Moorhouse Community Centre to discuss their issues in the area, Al Hamza being the main topic. Following on from this meeting I made an appointment with Sarah at Al Hamza to introduce myself and informally discuss the issues voiced by residents which is mainly with regard to parking, drums and fireworks."

Cllr Fielding has also spoken to an enforcement officer to discuss the situation and is currently awaiting a date for a further meeting with Moorhouse residents.

Spring Hill: Councillor Fielding dealing with fly-tipping

Cllr Diane Fielding has been dealing with reports of flytipping around her ward of Spring Hill. Items of general waste were dumped behind Edelstrone Street, Exchange Street and Spring Street and these have now been dealt with by HBC.

Diane said, "Flytipping is on the increase which isn't good as it means there is less money left to spend on other services once we have cleared it up. Licences are available from Lancashire County Council for getting rid of waste and everyone is allowed quite a lot for free each year without resorting to this."
 

 

Spring Hill: Increasing awareness of how medication works

An issue has been brought to the attention of Spring Hill Councillor Diane Fielding regarding members of the Asian community being unaware of the potential side effects of their medication.

Cllr Fielding said, "I have taken a suggestion from Sarah at Al-Hamza regarding the elderly Asian Community not knowing what medication they are taking and knowing the potential side effects. As Vice Chair of Neighbourhood Management, I suggested that education could be included as part of a luncheon Club for males aged 50+, which was accepted."

Spring Hill: Flytipping at Spring Hill Road

Some items of bedroom furniture have been dumped in Spring Hill and newly-elected Councillor, Diane Fielding, has dealt with it.

Cllr Fielding said, "A mattress and other bits of bedroom furniture have been dumped at back street of Spring Street and Spring Hill Road. I've contacted HBC who have now removed it but this sort of tipping costs money to get rid of. That's our Council tax money which means we can't spend it in the community. If anyone knows someone who is tipping then please call 01254 388111 and let us know."

Spring Hill 2015: Vote for Diane Fielding

Spring Hill resident Diane Fielding is the Labour candidate in the forthcoming bye-election on 9th July 2015.
 
Diane has already been out canvassing and speaking to residents, many of whom already know her through her community work, and she has the support of the Hyndburn Labour group.

Diane said, "I have lived in Spring Hill on Spring Street for 26 years with my husband, Barry and our two children. For the last 14 years I have worked in a primary school as a Teaching and Learning Assistant, a job which I thoroughly enjoy. During the last 15 years I have become involved in organisations as a volunteer with Spring Hill Network Group R.A., Spring Hill Community Centre, Youth Action, Scaitcliffe and Spring Hill Neighbourhood Management to name but a few."

She added, "I will continue to work hard for the residents of Spring Hill as I have done for the last 15 years through various organisations and projects. I feel excited and privileged to stand as the Labour candidate."
