HBC to host 'How Parliament Works' event

Hyndburn is set to host a ‘How Parliament Works’ event, at Accrington Town Hall on Friday 18th October.

Graham Jones, MP for Hyndburn, will be the keynote speaker at the event, talking about the role of an MP from both a constituency and Parliamentary point of view and later hosting a question and answer session.

The event, which is about encouraging greater engagement between the public, the House of Commons and the House of Lords will widen knowledge of how parliament works and how to actively participate.

Councillor Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Council, said; “We are pleased to host this ‘How Parliament Works’ event and to have our MP Graham Jones attend to talk about his role. It will help promote local democracy and raise awareness of the work, processes and relevance of Parliament to Hyndburn people.”

The event runs from 10am until 12.30pm and a small number of free places are open to the general public.  To reserve your place, call Michael Cunliffe in Democratic Services on 388111, or  email michael.cunliffe@hyndburnbc.gov.uk.
