Profile: Councillor Pam Barton

Cllr Pam Barton is one of the two Springhill representatives on HBC and one of the six senior Councillors who make up the Cabinet. Pam sits on the following committees at the Council:

  • Cabinet (Portfolio Holder for Health and Communities) 
  • Central and Springhill Area Management Council 
  • Health and Communities Working Group (Chair)

She is also a member of the following outside bodies:

  • Accrington and District Helping Hands Fund 
  • Homeless in Hyndburn Group 
  • Hyndburn Community Safety Partnership Steering Group 
  • Hyndburn GP Commissioning Consortium 
  • Hyndburn Homewise Management Committee 
  • Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Council for Voluntary Service Board of Trustees 
  • Hyndburn Three Tier Forum 
  • Hyndburn Voluntary and Community Resource Ltd Board 
  • Hyndburn Voluntary Sector Forum (Voluntary Sector Community Champion) 
  • Lancashire Police and Crime Panel  
  • Springhill Community Centre Management Committee 

Cllr Barton said, "I am pleased to represent the Cabinet with the Health and Community portfolio. This covers a host of meetings and is all very interesting. I sit on the G.P Commissioning Consortium which covers a whole range of health issues in Hyndburn, such as alcohol-related problems, heart disease, smoking etc. and also attend committees related to these issues. My other main role is assisting the police as the Chair of the Community Safety Partnership and represent Hyndburn on the newly formed Police and Crime Panel. On the community side, I attend many volunteer groups such as Homewise, C.V.S. and the Over 50s Forum, to name just a few."
