There have been issues across the borough with grass cutting in public areas and HBC is now dealing with them. Complaints have been logged with Councillors in several wards, particularly with regard to clumps of grass which appear to have been left on playing fields.
Cllr Ken Moss, Cabinet member for Education, Leisure and the Arts, said, "Standard practice is not to pick up the cuttings as it is not only time consuming and impractical but is good for the grassed areas and usually not a problem. The wet and warm weather has caused the grass to grow like mad without the maintenance team being able to deal with it properly so it has grown very long over a short period which is why cuttings are now visible on the surface. The Parks team are aware of recent problems and the staff are now working to get all areas back to normal as soon as possible."
