Accrington: Digital teaching resource for Accrington schools to be created

As part of plans to create a new town square for activities and to remember the Accrington Pals, Hyndburn Council is looking to appoint a freelance specialist in primary education, to research and develop a bespoke digital teaching resource for Accrington schools, funded through the Heritage Lottery.

Cllr Clare Cleary, Cabinet Member for Accrington Town Centre, said; “These are historic times for Accrington, a town with a strong and proud heritage with a fine legacy of mid to late 19th and 20th century buildings which are key to its distinct identity.  The project offers an exciting opportunity to find out more about the town’s historic buildings, create a new town square for activities and to remember the sacrifice of the Accrington Pals in a way that future generations can identify with. Events, people and changes are key themes and the next few years offer stimulating opportunities to experience and record history as it unfolds.”

Once appointed, the freelance specialist in primary education will research and develop a bespoke digital teaching resource for Accrington schools to deliver a programme of study in Key Stages 1 and 2 of the national curriculum.

This is part of a wider Townscape Heritage Initiative project for Accrington Town Centre funded through the Heritage Lottery.

Anyone interested in in receiving further information about this short term freelance opportunity should email Annette Birch, Townscape Heritage Initiative Officer, on Annette.birch@hyndburnbc.gov.uk.

Closing date for submissions is Monday 8th February.
