HBC: MyHyndburn app launched

Hyndburn Council is harnessing the latest mobile technology to make it easier for residents to manage their household waste and report fly tipping, with the launch of the new MyHyndburn app.

The app is free, available to download on most phones and devices and allows residents to book bulky collections, report fly tipping and request recycling containers.  It will also remind people about their bin day and keep them updated about collections by sending notifications or text messages.  Residents can also book requests via the app and send it straight through to Waste and Recycling crews.

Cllr Paul Cox, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said; “We receive nearly 30,000 requests and reports for waste services every year and we want to give resident access to our services 24/7 using our app.  With just a few clicks you can book a bulky waste collection, which is free for all residents, and send your request straight to our crew. You’ll
get an email or text message when we’ve done the job and you can track your request online anytime.

Cllr Cox added; “Using mobile technology is changing the way that we deliver our services, we’ve been using mobile technology in our refuse and recycling wagons for a couple of years, cutting out paper and making us more efficient.  Now our handy new app will send bin and recycling day reminders to you, at a time that you set, so it could even be the night before.   It’s also great if you’re having a Christmas clear out, you can book your bulky waste collection there and then with my.hyndburn and also having our app on your phone means that you can report fly tipping to us as and when you see it and help us to keep Hyndburn clean and tidy.”

Download the app now to get Christmas collection reminders and have a handy tool to help you with spring cleaning in the New Year, its available on the Apple App Store or Google Play – search ‘my hyndburn’ or link to it from our website www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk/apps.
