The
maple tree planted at Parker Street corner in Rishton to mark the Diamond Jubilee
of the Queen has been moved to the Ladybird Garden. The commemorative
plaque has also been moved and reinstated in the stone circle. A safety
guard will be erected around the tree shortly.
Cllr Ken Moss said, "The land at Parker Street will in all probability cease to be Council land one way or another within the next year, whoever ends up owning it. We wanted to ensure the survival of the tree and to leave it any longer would have been risky as it is already three years old. The Ladybird Garden was the logical place for it and it has actually made more of a prominent feature."
