Hyndburn Labour announce candidates for 2016

The Hyndburn Labour group have formally selected candidates for all 12 wards up for election in May 2016.

Group Leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson, said, "I am pleased to announce that we have had a really excellent range of people coming forward wishing to stand, from a long-standing teacher to an experienced member of staff at Calderstones. All are standing on a Labour ticket and no deals have been done with any other political group to engineer a result. We will be fighting this election on the back of years of hard work from our 25 Labour Councillors and we hope the public continue to trust us to look after Hyndburn in 2016."

Central: Mayoral Charity donation from community

Cllr Abdul Khan, Cllr Mohammad Ayub and Community Member Mohammed Siddique presented the Mayor, Cllr Munsif Dad, with a cheque for £1650 yesterday for the Mayoral Charity Fund.

They had raised the money by holding a charity event held on 11th January 2015 at Accrington Town hall attended by around 160 people.

Central: PACT meeting on Tremellen Street

Central ward Councillors Mohammad Ayub and Abdul Khan were involved this week in a public Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting for residents to come and air their concerns.

The service was well-used by people of all ages and ethnicities and more are hoped to be held in the future.

Central: Weekly Surgeries

Cllrs Abdul Khan (pictured) and Mohammad Ayub are conducting surgeries from Monday to Thursday between 10.00am and 1.00pm for any resident who has an issue they would like help with.

Cllr Munsif Dad - Accrington West

Canvassing continues apace in all wards for the County Council elections on May 2nd and every household will have received some Labour literature and a knock at the door by now. The Labour team are now on the second canvass to try and speak to people who were missed first time around.
