Second Hyndburn benefit fraud case to be shown on BBC One on 29th September 2014

Two completed Hyndburn Benefit Fraud cases feature in the BBC One TV programme Saints & Scroungers. One of the cases was joint working with the DWP and the other was a Hyndburn-led case. Both were significant frauds and were picked up by the national press following press releases to the local media. Researchers for the programme came across these cases and approached the Council requesting to feature both cases in the new series of Saints & Scroungers.

The first case was led by the DWP with support from Hyndburn and features the Fraud Manager, Neil Osliffe talking about aspects of the case. This was transmitted on Monday 22nd September 2014 at 11.00am on BBC One and can currently be viewed on iPlayer.

The second case was led by our Investigations Team and features the Fraud Manager and one of our Fraud Officers, Matt Woods who both talk about the case and how we cracked the case. This will be transmitted on Monday 29th September 2014 at 11.00am on BBC One.
