Baxenden: WW1 Exhibition at Haworth Art Gallery

There is a World War 1 and Accrington PALS Exhibition running at the Haworth Art Gallery from 22nd March to 25th May 2014.

Come and see:

  • 1917 Original Letter from General Joffre to Joseph Briggs thanking him for his ‘delightful token’
  • Wall of Honour – photographs of the Accrington PALS provided by Walter Holmes
  • Accrington PALS – A mother’s story, including Letters, Memorabilia and Medals
  • Artists Images of WW1 by International Artist, Paul Mason and Community Project led by Iain Broadley, ‘Bloody Hell’
  • Broadfield Specialist School WW1 ‘Home Alone’, what was WW1 like for the children left behind?
  • Interactive family room—dress up, create war art, send a postcard home – lots of free family activities.
Exhibition Launch—Saturday 22nd March 12 noon with the Mayor of Hyndburn, Judith Addison,
Followed by a WW1 sing-a-long with musician Ian H at 1pm

Free Family Drop-in workshop, Sunday 23rd March 2.00pm to 3.30pm – create your own character figures of a WW1 Nurse and Soldier.
