Regeneration work in Woodnook, Accrington, continues with homes on Augusta St now complete and fully let.
Specialist build to rent developer, PlaceFirst, is working in partnership with Hyndburn Council to transform the Woodnook neighbourhood through a range of housing and environmental improvements. Over 120 empty homes are being refurbished and brought back into use. In addition, over 200 houses and a number of shops are benefitting from facelift works, and two new community spaces are to be provided including a brand new public square at the heart of the neighbourhood on Nuttall Street.
Council Leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson, met Martin Ellerby, PlaceFirst’s Head of New Business & Innovation, at Augusta St for a tour around the Woodnook site. Cllr Parkinson said; “I was really impressed to see how things are progressing at Woodnook, along with the quality light and airy accommodation on offer. It was great to hear also how popular the homes there are proving with lots of people interested in the site.”
Martin Ellerby, Head of New Business & Innovation at PlaceFirst said: “Since the launch of the first homes last Summer, the market interest in Woodnook has been very strong. The new homes on Augusta Street have been completed and are now fully let, and we are receiving applications on a daily basis for the next release on Royds Street in April. The new homes in Woodnook will be complimented by a range of public realm improvements including street scene improvements, a new community garden, and a new public square in the heart of Woodnook. It’s been a really positive experience working with Hyndburn Borough Council and Woodnook demonstrates what can be achieved through genuine public-private partnerships”.
