The newly-renovated Haworth Art Gallery Stables Block was officially opened by the High Sheriff of Lancashire, Amanda Parker JP, during an official visit on Saturday 19th March 2016.
Cabinet member for The Arts, Cllr Ken Moss, Gallery curator Yvonne Robins and the Mayor of Hyndburn, Marlene Haworth, were in attendance to show the High Sheriff around the Stables Block and also launch the ‘Northern Artists’ exhibition before having lunch in the Gallery Kitchen.
Cllr Moss said, "The Stables block is one of only two remaining the country which were built to house both horses and cars at a time when both were being used as primary modes of transport. The newly-refitted block will now be an artistic studio and the renovation is superb."
Money for the renovation has come from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
