2nd Annual Ron Hill Accrington 10K Race

Sunday 29th March 2015 saw the 2nd annual Ron Hill Accrington 10K race, which was bigger and better than ever. The legendary Dr Ron Hill was among the runners at this iconic event, which attracted 600 applicants and included a fun run for youngsters.

Despite the weather everyone had a great day, with some spectacular times for the front runners and lots of new Personal Best’s set amongst the rest. There were even a couple of newlyweds taking part and one man ran round with his dog!

Masseurs were on hand at the start and at the finish for those aching muscles, also free bananas were on offer for the runners from Accrington Market.

Rob Grigorjevs, Head of Town Centre Development, said, “Once again we have worked together as a local community to put on a high class event for the town. It is a great course and everyone, from the seasoned athletes, to those doing it to get fit and have fun, had a great day. Thank you to the many people and businesses who helped to make the race such a success and a special thanks must go to all the volunteer Marshals who stood in the pouring rain directing and encouraging runners. Same again next year, but bigger, better and hopefully sunshine!”
