HBC: Over 300 people attend apprentice event at Accrington Town Hall

Around three hundred would-be apprentices attended an apprenticeship event yesterday at Accrington Town Hall.

The event was aimed at anyone, of any age, who may be thinking about an apprenticeship. Attendees were able to find out more about apprenticeships direct from employers and training providers, seek expert advice and get one-to-one support in applying for apprenticeship vacancies. There were also real live vacancies on offer, along with the chance to apply for apprenticeships with potential employers on the day.

Lots of training providers and businesses from across Hyndburn and beyond were on hand offering apprenticeships at the event including; 3AAA, Calico Housing, Forbes Solicitors, Hyndburn Homes, North Lancs Training Group, Accrington & Rossendale College, Training 2000, Themis, St Mary’s College, WEC Training Academy and Langtec.

Council Leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson, said, “An apprentice learns on the job, and is able to gain qualifications by learning new skills, whilst earning money at the same time. So its great news that over three hundred would-be apprentices came along to the Apprentice Event to try their hand at a range of skills and trades and in some cases to apply for real vacancies with potential employers.”
