Police: Mobile phone scam in East Lancashire

A member of the public has been cheated out of £125 cash by two males in a silver car. The victim was on a supermarket car park in Burnley when they were offered a mobile phone for sale.
When they handed over the money the males handed over a bag; it was only when the victim checked the bag that they discovered a bottle of fizzy drink in place of the phone.

This is a well known scam with many variations. Please be aware of this as they may well be travelling all over East Lancashire or have associates using the same tactics.

If approached you should report it immediately on 999 as a crime in progress; other non-urgent information regarding this particular scam on 101.
