LCC: East Lancashire Strategic Cycleway in Hyndburn

Work will be continuing on the East Lancashire Strategic Cycleway project in Hyndburn. This is a £5.85M, 4 year programme to create 4 new routes across East Lancashire funded by the Lancashire Economic Partnership's Growth Deal, Lancashire County Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council.

There are two routes in Hyndburn; the part of the Accrington to Ramsbottom Greenway and the Huncoat Greenway. Both are largely off road, multiuser routes that follow disused railway lines and are intended to provide improved access to employment, places of education and other services. When completed, they will also have features of interest along the way to make them exciting to use and encourage people to adapt a healthy, active lifestyle.

The first year of works largely involve the improvement of existing routes with work on the first section starting in November.
