Budget 2014: We are not all in this together unless you earn between 42K and 100K

Hyndburn is one of the most deprived Boroughs in the country and there are vey few families in the Borough who are on Middle Incomes as defined by  Tory Chancellor, in his Budget Speech as between £42,000 and £100,000.

The average household income in Hyndburn is £32,500.

What we need in Hyndburn is for our residents to be paid at least the Living Wage of £7.65 an hour instead of the National Minimum Wage of £6.31 an hour and the abolition of Zero hours contracts.

Councillor Joan Smith - Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance said,  '' This Budget will benefit very few residents of our Borough and will do nothing to alleviate the problems that affect our residents. There needs to be more Government investment in the Borough,  not further cuts to our Revenue Funding, Hyndburn has lost 35% of Funding from this Tory led Government since 2010 and by 2016 will loose another 35%.  The residents of Hyndburn are being punished for being poor whilst residents of David Cameron's Witney constituency have benefited from increased funding.
