Cllr Paul Cox, Milnshaw Ward, took part in a walkabout
around the Laneside estate on Today . The local Labour Councillor was
attending a briefing with Laneside Residents Association representative to
discuss the redevelopment of the estates drop in centre. Also attending the meeting
was Hyndburn Homes Community Engagement officer, Elaine Embley, and the New
Hyndburn Homes Residents Involvement officer, Ann McCiver. During the meeting
the Hyndburn Homes officers discussed how to promote the centre on its relaunch
and tie the event into the estates 90 year old celebrations planned for later
this year.
After the meeting the Milnshaw Councillor took the
opportunity to walk round the estate and speak with residents about any
concerns they may have. Cllr Cox said “I really enjoy the chance to wander
around this fantastic estate, it also gives me the chance to talk to people
face to face” Cllr Cox goes on to say ” being accessible is something I feel is
hugely important. This community has been hit hard from several sides over the
last couple of years. From Welfare Reform to struggling with the cost of living
crisis, I’m here for all their concerns”
Issues that the local Ward councillor picked up where;
Anti Social behaviour report by a couple of residents relating
to the same property.
The condition of the main road that crosses the estate Ribblesdale
Avenue
Cllr Cox added “I have passed on the anti-social complaints
to both the Laneside Hyndburn Homes estate Manager and the Local community
Police team. As for the condition of Ribblesdale Road, this is a priority for
me and something that is very high on my list. The road is in desperate need of
resurfacing and I will be pushing Lancashire County Council for some definite
commitment to improve it.”
