A question has been sent in to HBC by a Huncoat resident who is concerned about the sale of land on Yorkshire Street as part of a blanket policy of selling all pieces of Council-owned land.
Cllr Clare Cleary, Cabinet Member for Housing said, “I can confirm that the Council has decided to market the Yorkshire Street site in Huncoat for sale having received only one objection to the proposed disposal. I can reassure residents that the Council does not have a blanket policy to dispose of all its land. The Council has to continually balance the needs of communities with its wider role and responsibilities and the Yorkshire Street site presents an opportunity for some much needed new housing in the area. Any proposal for new housing will be subject to a planning application."
