Labour hopeful David Hartley sadly lost the Baxenden local election but secured a respectable number of votes in what is generally regarded as a safe Tory seat. His performance in the election means that Baxenden can now be considered as a target for Labour in future years.
The results were as follows:
- David Hartley (Labour) - 736
- John Bargh (Conservative) - 1,044
- Stuart Scott (UKIP) - 515
- Kerry Gormley (Green) - 62
The total percentage of voters who turned out in Baxenden was 71.05%.
